Phylogeny of Modern Birds
My name is Jente Ottenburghs. During my studies of Biology I became fascinated with evolution and phylogeny in particular. My past projects show my passion to solve these evolutionary questions. Flatworms were the first creatures I encountered using molecular and phylogenetic techniques. At the University of Hasselt I worked on a population of Gyratrix hermaphroditus from Donana (Spain). My masterthesis in Antwerp explained the molecular relationships between landsnails of the genus Plutonia on the Azores (Portugal). Recently I was given the chance to combine my passion for evolution with an older interest, namely birds. I will be studying the ongoing hybridization between different geese species. More information about this project can be found on my other website: hybridgeese.webnode.nl
